The Ijen Crater Nature Park, Banyuwangi, East Java, was temporarily closed for visits and ascent after a land fire on Mount Ranti in the Mount Ijen area since Saturday (10/19) evening.
"Indeed, for the closing of the visit and the ascent closed at TWA Ijen is the authority of BKSDA, but this is the result of coordination with the Licin, Banyuwangi District Leaders Forum, and BPBD and BKSDA, temporarily closed, for fear of fire re-occurring," said Chief officer of BPBD Banyuwangi Eka Muharram when contacted in Banyuwangi, East Java, Sunday, October 20, 2019.

He said, the closing of the climbing of Ijen Crater and Mount Ranti which is adjacent to Mount Ijen, was carried out starting in the Jambu rest area, reported from Antara.
"Banyuwangi Regency Government is deploying fire trucks to spray at a number of points. A number of our paths are pouring water so the fire does not spread. Its function is indeed to wet, so as not to spread," he said.
According to Eka, the fire that occurred since Saturday (10/19) evening continued to spread, because the wind was very strong. So that fires do not only occur at Mount Ranti, but also the Merapi Ungup-ungup forest area.
